Name
Definition
Bootstrap
Initial SW that is launched by the ROM Code during the Memory Booting phase
Certificate
Data block plus trusted signature of the data block.
Downloaded SW
Initial SW that is downloaded into internal RAM by the ROM Code during Peripheral Booting phase.
E-Fuse
A one-time programmable memory location usually set at the factory
Emulator Device
A type of device where some of the security rules are relaxed. Intended for development only.
Downloaded SW launched by the ROM Code in Pre-Flashing and which programs an image into
Flash Loader
external memories.
General Purpose Device. A type of device where the security features, except the cryptographic
GP Device
HWA, are disabled. Intended for production.
SW which is executed by any of the ROM Code mechanisms (Memory Booting or Peripheral
Initial SW
Booting). Initial SW is a generic term for Bootstrap and Downloaded SW.
A modular software component with finite and focused functionality. Its interfaces are abstracted for
Manager
maximum portability, scalability, usability and maintainability of the Secure Environment.
Memory Booting
ROM Code mechanism that consists of executing an Initial SW from external memory.
Monitor Mode Manager
ROM Code software component in charge of handling all entry/exit to/from MPU Secure State.
ROM Code mechanism that consists of polling selected interfaces, downloading and executing an
Peripheral Booting
Initial SW (in this case called Downloaded SW) in internal RAM.
Specific case of Peripheral Booting, where the ROM Code mechanism is used to program external
Pre-Flashing
Flash memories.
Primary Protected
Application that provides additional Secure Services and patches inside the Secure Environment.
Application
Protected Application
Application that is executed inside the Secure Environment.
Public Keys Certificate
Certificate where the data block contains the Public Keys
R&D Certificate
Certificate where the data block contains development configuration parameters.
ROM Code
ROM Code is the on-chip SW in OMAP ROM implementing Booting and Security features.
Certificate where the data block contains the Software digest, which can be related to PPA, PA or
SW Certificate
Initial SW.
Execution and storage environment, built of HW and SW components, whose access is enabled
Secure Environment
when the processor runs in Secure Mode.
MPU secure working state, active when the ARM1176 Secure State is set, and reinforced by Secure
Secure Mode
State Machine (SSM) policy and attacks countermeasures.
Writable area of the OCM-RAM. Protected Applications are loaded there for execution and secure
Secure RAM
data is temporarily stored there. Can be accessed only when the processor is in Secure Mode or by
a Secure DMA channel.
Read-only memory inside the chip. Programmed at chip manufacturing phase. Can be accessed
Secure ROM
only when the chip is in Secure Mode.
Secure execution state of the MPU, when equipped with ARM™ TrustZone™ technology. The
Secure State is set/reset when the MPU runs in the Monitor Mode. The access to sensitive HW
Secure State
components of the OMAP™ platform (e.g. internal Secure RAM and Secure ROM, Cryptographic
HWA) is allowed only when the MPU is in this execution state.
