3. On the
Dead Interval
form, configure the following parameter(s) as required:
NOTE
For reliable operation, it is recommended that the
Dead Interval
value be at least four times the
number of Hellos per second.
NOTE
Lower values of
Dead Interval
and
Number of Hellos Per Second
will help speed up the change
in network routes when the topology of the network changes. It will also increase the load on the
router and the links, due to higher traffic caused by the increase in messages.
Lower values will also put limits on the number of routes that can be distributed within an OSPF
network area, as will running over slower links.
IMPORTANT!
The
Dead Interval
and number of Hellos per second must be identical on every router in an OSPF
network area.
