This section provides illustrations for configuring RADIUS authentication.
One illustration is based on the Microsoft
®
Network Policy Server (NPS),
and the other is based on a non-Windows RADIUS server, such as
FreeRADIUS.
The following steps are required for any RADIUS authentication:
1. Configure RADIUS authentication on the EMX device. See
Adding
RADIUS Server Settings

2. Configure roles on the EMX device. See

3. Configure your RADIUS server. See

Microsoft Network Policy Server
In this Microsoft NPS illustration, we assume that the NPS is running on
the Windows 2008 system.
Three major steps are required for configuring Windows 2008 NPS:
a. Add your EMX device to NPS as a RADIUS client
b. Configure connection request policies on NPS
c. Configure a vendor-specific attribute on NPS
Some configuration associated with Microsoft Active Directory (AD) is
also required for RADIUS authentication. See
AD-Related

(on page 522).
