If port 1 is set to SOFTWARE, the firmware inside the TNC will detect the pres-
ence of data to enable the carrier detection, allowing operation with un-squelched
audio. Correct operation of SOFTWARE carrier detect is affected by proper
equalization and the SWP parameter. If your RCV light flickers, this is an indica-
tion that you may need to adjust the equalization. (Equalization is set with an in-
ternal jumper.)
When CD is set to INTERNAL or SOFTWARE (port 1 only), the external carrier
detect pin on the radio connector (if wired) can also be used to hold off the TNC
from keying the radio.
+ Hint: For one use of this function, see the APRS and GPS section of this manual.

CHECK
n
(n = 0 - 255)
Multi-Port
default 0/0
One purpose of this command is to insure that your TNC will disconnect from a
connection, after a given time, even if the connected to station has disappeared
(for whatever reason).
This “timeout” command is used to send a packet requiring acknowledgement (a
poll) n * 10 seconds after there has been no data exchange with a connected sta-
tion. If an acknowledgement has not been received after a number of polls (set by
TRIES), a standard disconnect sequence will be initiated.
If n equals 0, this “timeout” function is disabled.
When using Version 1 (AX25L2V2), a check timeout will initiate a disconnect right
away.
