Coil
An inductive discharge ignition
system is used. The coil is governed
by the I.A.W. control unit, which
calculates the ignition advance.
The power module (integrated in
the electronic control unit) also
guarantees constant energy coil
charge, by adjusting the dwell angle.
The horizontal cylinder coil (1) and
vertical cylinder coil (2) are secured
to the air filter box.
To access the coils remove the air
filter box (Sect. L 7).
Unscrew fixing screws (3) and
recover spacer (4) in correspondence
with coil (1).
When refitting, tighten screws (3)
to the specified torque (Sect. C 3).
If they have been disconnected from
the coils, connect the spark plug
cables (5), (6), (7) and (8) as shown in
the figure. The horizontal cylinder and
vertical cylinder coils differ because
of the different length of the spark
plug cables: the vertical coil (1) has
short spark plug cables (5) and (6),
while the horizontal coil (2) has long
spark plug cables (7) and (8).
Refit the air filter box (Sect. L 7).
For the correct position of the coil
cables refer to the diagrams below.
Notes
To check faults on the coils use
the “DDS” tester (Sect. D 5).
Bobina
L’accensione utilizzata è del tipo a
scarica induttiva. La bobina riceve
il comando dalla centralina I.A.W.
che elabora l’anticipo di accensione.
Il modulo di potenza (incorporato nella
centralina) assicura inoltre una carica
della bobina ad energia costante,
agendo sull’angolo di “dwel”.
La bobina cilindro orizzontale (1) e la
bobina cilindro verticale (2) sono
fissate alla scatola filtro aria.
Per accedere alle bobine è necessario
rimuovere la scatola filtro aria
(Sez. L 7).
Svitare le viti (3) di fissaggio e
recuperare il distanziale (4) in
corrispondenza della bobina (1).
In fase di rimontaggio, serrare le
viti (3) alla coppia prescritta (Sez. C 3).
Nel caso siano stati scollegati
dalle bobine, collegare i cavi delle
candele (5), (6), (7) e (8) come mostra
la figura. Le bobine orizzontale e
verticale si differenziano per la
lunghezza dei cavi candela: la bobina
verticale (1) ha i cavi candela (5) e (6)
corti, mentre la bobina orizzontale (2)
ha i cavi candela (7) e (8) lunghi.
Rimontare la scatola filtro aria
(Sez. L 7).
Per la posizione corretta dei cavi delle
bobine, fare riferimento alle tavole di
seguito riportate.
Note
Per il controllo della difettosità
di questi elementi utilizzare lo
strumento di diagnosi “DDS”
(Sez. D 5).
