•
Avg Pitch
and
Avg Roll
– The mean pitch and roll angles for the entire transect.
•
Echo Xducer
– The depth of the echo sounder transducer below the water surface. This
value is entered by user in the echo sounder properties of the
Systems
•
ADP Xducer
– Shows ADP transducer depth below the waterline. Depending on user setup
(
ADP Configuration|User Setup
), this value is either measured manually, or obtained auto-
matically from the optional pressure sensor (§
). In either case, this value remains con-
stant during the entire transect.
•
Temp
– Shows the water temperature measured by the ADP’s sensor when the last profile
was processed.
•
Pressure
– Shows the pressure measured by the ADP’s (optional) pressure sensor.
•
Salinity
– Shows the salinity entered by the user in the
User Setup
dialog box (§
). This
value remains constant for the entire transect.
•
Voltage
– Shows the present battery voltage. This value is important for systems running
from external batteries (such as a RiverCat system).
Compass Rose
The
Compass Rose
) shows the direction of
travel of the vessel. The size of the arrow is proportional to the
speed of the vessel. To display this information on screen, use
View|Display Data|Show Compass Rose
.
•
The compass rose shows vessel heading based on the
Track
Display
selection on the
Processing
toolbar, either
BT
(bot-
tom track) or
GPS
. If
BT
is selected, the reading is taken
from the ADP’s internal compass.
7.2.3. Status Bar and Indicators
The Status Bar and Indicators are located at the bottom of the
RiverSurveyor
screen (
There are three sections:
•
Tips display (far left) – Shows information for the currently highlighted toolbar item.
•
System status display (center) – Shows the current status of the system and program during
data collection or playback.
•
System status indicators (right) – There are indicators for:
ADP
,
Bottom-Track
,
Shallow Wa-
ter Mode
,
GPS
, and
Echo Sounder
. Each of the indicators shows the current status of the
relevant system during data collection and playback. Certain colors represent a different
state:
Grey
– Item not detected;
Dark Green
– Item is on standby;
Bright Green
– Item is
operating normally;
Red
– Item is not responding or there is an error.
7.2.4. Track Window
The
Track Window
) displays a representation of the survey track of
the vessel and the measured water current velocities. The track and velocities are overlaid onto a
grid. The top of the window is north.
The
Track Window
vessel (a white circle) is initially positioned at the
0
,
0
display coordinates. As
each new profile is collected, the circle moves to its new position, leaving a blue
track path
.
