3.1.2. RiverSurveyor “Mini” System
The mini configuration (
Figure 3-3
) is popular in river discharge meas-
urement applications primarily due to its small size and portability
(
Figure 3-5
). The mini-ADP (sometimes referred to as a splash-proof sys-
tem) is identical to the standard ADP in both performance and operation.
The mini-ADP housing has a diameter of 10 cm (4 in.) and weighs about
4 kg (7 lbs). The small diameter housing significantly reduces the drag
and flow disturbances caused by the transducer head as it moves through
the water. This becomes an important advantage when measuring in shal-
low streams. The mini-ADP provides flexibility in that it can be used from both a boat or with
the
RiverCat Integrated Catamaran System .
The RiverSurveyor “Mini” system includes:
•
A small, 10-cm (4-in.) diameter transducer head (i.e., mini-ADP ) with internal com-
pass/pitch/roll sensor
•
Splash-proof (non-submersible) box containing all the processing electronics
•
10-m high-frequency cable (sensor to processor)
•
24-volt DC power supply (110/220 VAC input required)
•
RiverSurveyor acquisition and post-processing software (
Section 7
)
•
Tool kit and Pelican carrying case (handheld)

Pressure sensor
•
Internal rechargeable battery
•
V-Fin mobile surveying system
