6.6.8. Coordinate System
For RiverSurveyor applications, the
Coordinate System
field should always be set to
ENU
(East-
North-Up; Earth coordinates) on the
Advanced Settings
tab of the
User Setup

Shallow Water Operation
By default, the
Shallow Water Operation

). Generally, this field is
enabled for transects or conditions where the water is not deep enough to collect an acceptable
number of cells, or in areas with shallow, wide banks. For more information on shallow-water

Recorder
If your system has the internal recorder option installed, we recommend you set the
Recorder
field to
Enabled
to turn on the internal recorder. If your system does not have an internal re-
corder, or if you do not wish to store data to the internal recorder (i.e., you only want to store
data to a drive on your computer), set the
Recorder
field to
Disabled
. The

Temperature Settings
Water temperature is used in the computation of
the speed of sound and can also be used for other
applications.

Temperature Mode
– This setting, on the
Ad-
vanced Settings
tab of the
User Setup
dialog

), determines whether the temperature
sensor will be active during data collection.

Measured
(default) – Use this option
when you want the built-in temperature
sensor to dynamically measure water
temperature. Each profile will have its
own individually calculated speed of
sound.

– Use this option if you want to
manually enter a temperature value.

Default Water Temp
– This value is used in
the calculation of speed of sound. If

perature Mode
is set to

, you must
manually enter a water temperature value;
otherwise, this field is disabled.
