2. Remove the (8) cross-brace screws and washers from the decks of the pontoons.
3. Lay the rear cross-brace across the top rear of the hulls and line up the screw holes. The ver-
tical surface of the rear cross-brace should be toward the rear of the pontoons. Loosely in-
stall the cross-brace screws to hold the brace in place.
4. Lay the front cross-brace across the top front of the hulls and line up the screw holes. The
vertical surface of the front cross-brace should be toward the front of the pontoons and
pointing down.
5. Firmly tighten all eight of the cross-brace screws.
6. Attach the ADP head clamp to the front edge of the front cross-brace using the two (2) head
screws attached to the large, circular part of the head clamp. Tighten the head screws.
7. Loosen the ADP head clamp enough to pass the ADP head through by backing-out the head
clamp bolt. Ensure that the arrow on ADP head (indicating the X-axis) is pointing toward
the bow and that the ADP transducer head surface is at the desired depth. Tighten the head
clamp bolt, but do not over tighten as this can potentially cause damage to the head clamp.
8. If system is equipped with GPS, insert the GPS Antenna Mount Rod into the threaded hole
near the ADP head clamp. Now attach the GPS Antenna to the threaded top of the GPS An-
tenna Mount Rod with the RF connector toward the rear of the RiverCat.
9. Attach the RiverCat electronics assembly to the cross-braces using the three (3) electronics
assembly-mounting screws. The connectors on the electronics assembly should be toward
the rear of the pontoons.
RiverCat Electrical Connections
1. Attach the ADP-head-to-RiverCat-electronics-assembly cable to the largest silver connector
(labeled
ADP
) on the RiverCat electronics assembly. Attach the other end of this cable to the
ADP head and tighten the locking sleeve completely.
2. If system is equipped with GPS, attach the GPS antenna cable (black cable with two small
silver connectors) to the GPS Antenna. Attach the other end to the matching connector (la-
beled
GPS
) on the RiverCat Electronics Assembly.
3. Attach the radio modem antenna to the silver connector on top of the RiverCat electronics
assembly.
4. When operating the RiverCat with a radio modem, you must have the jumper plug (also
known as a modified Tajimi plug) installed on the RiverCat electronics assembly into the
connector labeled
Output
.
5. When operating the RiverCat without the radio modem, connect the power and commu-
nications cable directly to the connector labeled
Output
. Connect the 9-pin connector to the
serial port of the computer being used to communicate with the RiverCat.
6. Secure all connections using lines or plastic zip-ties to prevent excessive cable stretch or
movement.
RiverCat Battery Replacement
Sixteen (16) “C” cell alkaline batteries power the RiverCat Electronics Assembly. The batteries
are not rechargeable. The following steps briefly describe the process of replacing the batteries.
1. Remove the Electronics Assembly from the cross braces by removing the three (3) electron-
ics assembly mounting screws that hold the assembly in place. The electronics assembly
mounting screws may be accessed from beneath the cross braces.
2. Remove the six (6) battery cover screws from the bottom of the Electronics Assembly.
3. Remove the battery cover from the bottom of the Electronics Assembly.
4. Remove the sixteen (16) C cell batteries from the assembly.
