or
Internal GPS Properties
dialog box depending on the selected row. This dialog
box (
) contains the following information:
•
Data Bits / Stop Bits
[External GPS only] – The default settings are 8 and 1 respectively;
however, some systems may use different settings.
•
Enable/Disable Internal GPS
[Internal GPS only] – Use this setting to turn on/off the Internal
GPS on a RiverCat system. The default setting is ON.
•
Magnetic Declination
– The magnetic declination can be read directly from some GPS
strings. For more information, see:
Compass Alignment and Magnetic Declination
.
•
Show Incoming Data
– The data transmitted from your GPS receiver will be displayed in
real-time (via the RiverCat if Internal GPS is used). If incorrect data (or no data) are being
displayed in the GPS Output box, check your cables, communication settings, and the GPS
receiver unit. Also, when a GPS fix is lost, some GPS systems will output the last good fix
(which can be noted by the measurement time repeating itself). In this case,
RiverSurveyor
will reject the data if the time is not updated for each successive measurement.
•
Troubleshooting
– This option runs a troubleshooting program in case you are unable to get
valid data from your GPS unit. It offers possible problem sources and solutions.
