7.1.3. Why do I need to use the RiverSurveyor program?
RiverSurveyor
provides you with an easy to use interface for communicating with your ADP
(and other sensors) and to display the information collected. While ADP data can be collected
exclusively using the internal recorder (§
), there would be no integration of other sensors, no
additional discharge parameters, and no visual feedback. As such,
RiverSurveyor
is the preferred
communication method.
7.1.4. What are the main features of the RiverSurveyor program?
•
Collect current velocity and discharge data
•
User-friendly interface
•
Single software package for calibration, setup, data collection, data analysis, and review
•
Display vessel track with velocity vectors in x-y coordinates or latitude/longitude
•
Use waypoints to assist in successful vessel navigation when using GPS
•
Display bathymetric profile
•
Report/display data quality assurance parameters during data collection and post-processing
•
Calculate total discharge
•
Export discharge data (either single files or batch processing)
•
Display velocity data in beam, XYZ, or ENU (East-North-Up) coordinates
•
Reference velocity data to the ADP, bottom-track data, or GPS data
•
Rotate velocity profiles to a user-selected angle
•
Apply edge estimates to discharge calculations in real-time and post-processing
•
Perform velocity profile extrapolations
•
Adjust scaling factors and change scaling units
•
Zoom-in on a selected range of profiles
•
Limit the range of profiles loaded
•
Load more than one data file at one time
•
Display configuration, hardware, and user setup information
•
Context-sensitive help
•
HTML discharge summary report for a measurement session
7.1.5. What information does the RiverSurveyor program provide?
•
Current velocity (vector components and speed/direction)
•
Standard deviation of current velocity data
•
Depth averaged velocities
•
Total river discharge (measured and computed)
•
Bottom-track position, velocity, and depth
•
GPS position, velocity, and quality information (if GPS is available; §
)
•
Echo sounder depth (if echo sounder is available; §
)
•
Heading, pitch, and roll
•
Signal strength
•
Temperature
7.1.6. What are the requirements to use the RiverSurveyor program?
•
•
Microsoft Windows 2000/NT/ME/XP (Note: Version 4 not supported by Windows 95/98)
