7.2.7. Contour Legend
Double-clicking the colored scale legend to the right of the
(§
) will
allow you to change the scaling structure of the color-contour “blocks” or cells. You can
choose to scale the display automatically or manually.
7.2.8. Profile Window
The
Profile Window
(
) contains information related directly
to the water current profile. During data collection, this graph will up-
date as each new profile is received. The vertical axis of the
Profile
Window
is the water depth and the horizontal axis is the parameter se-
lected for display. This graph can display the following parameters:
•
Velocity
– Water current velocity in cm/s or ft/s
•
Amplitude
– Signal amplitude in counts
•
SNR
– Signal-to-noise ratio in dB
•
Velocity-3D
– Water current velocity in three dimensions
•
Profile Extrapolation
– Flow and current velocity information
The
Velocity
,
Amplitude
, and
SNR
parameters will display a single
value for each cell (i.e., data point) along the profile.
The
Velocity-3D
parameter is an isometric graph that displays the current
velocities as vectors.
The
Profile Extrapolation
parameter displays a series of yellow markers
). The yellow markers represent the magni-
tudes and directions of the total flow for each individual cell in the pro-
file. The white line shows the interpolated velocity profile from the water
surface to the bottom. This interpolated profile is of particular importance
because it shows the velocities that have been computed for the unmeas-
ured areas. Use the
Velocity Profile Extrapolation
dialog box (
Process-
ing|Velocity Profile Extrapolation
) to determine the parameters used in the
velocity profile extrapolation calculation (§
).
The right-hand scaling axis represents depth in meters (or feet). The bot-
tom scale represents the velocity (in m/s or ft/s), amplitude (in counts), or
SNR (in dB). Double-clicking the appropriate scale will allow you to
choose between automatic or manual scaling.
To select the parameter to display in the
Profile Window
, use
View|Profile Graph Variable
, or
the
Select Profile Graph Variable
button, or right-click on the x-axis.
7.2.9. Profile Legend
The
Profile Legend
) displays the colors that are used to draw
each of the lines on the profile window.
•
Data for Beam 1 or the X-coordinate or the East/West-coordinate are shown using a red
line.
•
Data for Beam 2 or the Y-coordinate or the North/South-coordinate are shown in light blue.
•
Data for Beam 3 or the Z-coordinate or the Up/Down-coordinate are shown in yellow.
