Performing a TDR7 Software Upgrade
An overview of the procedures you will follow to transfer the software
files to the TDR7 is listed below.
1. Write down your current TDR7 configuration so that you can
restore the TDR7 to your operational configuration after you have
upgraded the TDR7 software.
2. If necessary, connect your RCD to the TDR7. Step–by–step
instructions are described in the Installing a Remote Control Device
(RCD) section in Chapter 2 of this manual.
3. Verify that you can successfully communicate with the TDR7
using the RCD by performing a few query commands on the RCD.
If the RCD does not communicate with the TDR7, follow the
troubleshooting steps defined in the Remote Control Device
Problems table in Chapter 6.
4. Follow the Tiernan Communications Product Support engineer’s
instructions for transferring the software upgrade files to the
TDR7.
Upgrading
from a
Floppy Disk
The basic process used to perform a field software upgrade of the
TDR7 using software from a floppy disk is as follows:
1. Obtain the floppy disk containing the software upgrade from
Tiernan Communications, Inc.
2. Open the zip files.
3. Transfer the software upgrade files to the TDR7 through the RCD
port.
Performing a software upgrade of the TDR7 will take about one hour,
depending upon the number and size of the software files to be
downloaded to the TDR7.
Equipment Required
To perform a field software upgrade of the TDR7 using software from
a floppy disk, you will need an RCD as described in Chapter 2 of this
manual. Additionally, your RCD must have the capability of reading
the files contained on the floppy disk. For information on installing an
RCD, refer to Chapter 2 of this manual. RCD operating instructions are
contained in Chapter 4.
