Fault Monitoring
Fault History
In addition to reporting faults with the
Fault
LED, the TDR7 maintains
a history of the faults in the fault history log. Whenever the TDR7
detects a fault, the
Fault
LED illuminates, and the fault is stored in the
fault history log.
The fault history log is more than just a list of current faults that have
occurred over a period of time. The TDR7 can detect a variety of other
hardware and operational faults that are not reported as current faults.
These faults are stored in the fault history log along with any current
faults that have occurred.
The TDR7 saves all faults in the fault history log. Whenever a fault is
detected, it is stored in volatile memory until one of the following
events occur:

The TDR7 power is turned off
■
The TDR7 is reset
■
You clear the fault history log by typing
FH_0
.
Faults stored in the fault history log are displayed in ASCII string
format beginning with a time tag followed by a functional block
designator that identifies a major operating component of the TDR7
and ending in a fault descriptor. For example, if the input source to the
video decoder is interrupted or disconnected, the LCD displays

after you select the History
submenu.
If the fault history log has been cleared or no faults have been logged,
the LCD displays
fault log empty...
after you select the History
submenu.
