Extract the files with the password provided by Tiernan
Communications Product Support.

4.

Using a remote control device (RCD), for example a PC, that is
connected to the TDR7, transfer the software upgrade files to the
TDR7.

Performing a software upgrade of the TDR7 will take about one hour,
which includes the time required to download the software files from
the Tiernan web site. The specific amount of time required to
download files from the Tiernan web site will vary depending upon:

■

The speed of your modem or direct Internet connection

■

The number and size of the software files to be downloaded

An average software download will take approximately 10 to 15
minutes.

Equipment Required for the Download

To download software directly from the Tiernan web site, you must
have a computer with the capability of downloading files via the
Internet. Additionally, your computer must have sufficient storage
capacity to store the software files. The number and size of the
software files will vary depending upon the software release. Prior to
the download, a Tiernan Communications Product Support engineer will
provide you with the exact number and size of files you will be
downloading.

Equipment Required for Transferring the Files to the
TDR7

To transfer the software upgrade files to the TDR7 after you have
downloaded and extracted the software files, you will need to connect
a remote control device to the remote control port on the back of the
TDR7. For a definition of a remote control device and specific
procedures for cabling a remote control device to the TDR7, refer to
Chapter 2. For information on operating a remote control device, refer
to Chapter 4.
