Removing and Replacing the Front Bezel
The procedure is the same for the Scalar
®
i40 and the Scalar i80. The
pictures show the Scalar i40.
You may perform this procedure with library power
ON . If you do, be
careful not to accidentally press the power button and turn the library
off when installing the bezel.
Required Tools
• Phillips #1 screwdriver

Bezel Replacement
Procedure
1 Stop all library operations.
2 Open all the magazines in the library a few inches.
a On the operator panel, select Actions > Magazine .
b Select a magazine and press Release .
c When prompted, pull open the magazine a few inches.
d Repeat for all magazines in the library.
3 Prepare to gain access to the bezel screws (see Figure 46 on
page 200 and Figure 47 on page 201 for locations). The method
depends upon how your library is installed. Follow the instructions
in the table below that correspond to your library installation.
If your library is... Follow these steps...
Installed in a rack high enough
to access to the bottom bezel
screws
Unscrew all the thumbscrews that secure the library to
the rack (the Scalar i40 has two thumbscrews; the
Scalar i80 has four). See Figure 47 on page 201.
