9. Operation
The following instructions must be read carefully before performing tests using the BALTO System.
WARNING : Ensure that all safety precautions required by the company, test site or state laws are
followed at all times.
WARNING : Ensure that all safety precautions described in this user manual are followed at all times

DANGER :
DANGER :
In case of open DC Switchgears, the High-speed DC Circuit Breaker to be tested must
be disconnected and grounded.
In case of enclosed DC Switchgears, the draw-out part should be removed from the DC
Switchgear.
In both cases, the High-speed DC Circuit Breaker should be placed in ‘test’ or ‘service’ mode.
WARNING : Read and follow the instructions displayed on the DC Current Generators.
CAUTION : After testing has finished, it is advised to switch off the High-speed DC Circuit Breaker, so as to
prevent any further current from flowing, which would discharge the batteries unnecessarily.
CAUTION : Safety regarding the current injection cables.
During testing, current injections can consist of extremely high currents. The resulting magnetic forces
can cause the current injection cables to move, and may cause injury to personnel in close vicinity.
It is imperative to keep distance from the current injection cables during testing.
CAUTION : Faulty operation.
The use of inadequate or faulty cables or components may impact the system’s indicated technical
specifications. Furthermore, the use of inadequate equipment may cause considerable damage to the
system.
CAUTION : Caution : Proper use of DC Current Generators on BALTO Modular
All DC Current Generators connected to the Support Carriage MUST be connected to the DC High Speed
Circuit Breaker as well. Leaving one or more DC Current Generators connected to the Support Carriage
without being connected to the DC High Speed Circuit Breaker may damage the properly connected DC
Current Generators when performing an injection.
