system has a module containing a lithium battery, replace it only with the same module type made by
the same manufacturer. The battery contains lithium and can explode if not properly used, handled, or
disposed of.
Do not:
• Throw or immerse into water
• Heat to more than 100°C (212°F)
• Repair or disassemble
To remove the battery, complete the following steps.
Step 1.
Read the safety information (see Chapter 2 “Safety information” on page 3).
Step 2.
Follow any special handling and installation instructions that come with the battery.
Step 3.
Turn off the server and all attached devices; then, disconnect all power cords and external cables.
Step 4.
Carefully lay the server flat on its side so that it is facing up.
Note:
Do not allow the server to fall over.
Step 5.
Unlock and remove the side cover (see “Removing the side cover” on page 146).
Step 6.
Remove any adapters that impede access to the battery.
Step 7.
Locate the battery on the system board.
