Step 5.
Align the microprocessor with the socket (note the alignment mark and the position of the notches);
then, carefully place the microprocessor on the socket. Close the microprocessor bracket frame.
Note:
The microprocessor fits only one way on the socket.

Step 6.
Carefully close the microprocessor release latch to secure the microprocessor in the socket.
Step 7.
Install the heat sink.
Attention:
Do not touch the thermal grease on the bottom of the heat sink or set down the heat
sink after you remove the plastic cover. Touching the thermal grease will contaminate it.
The following illustration shows the bottom surface of the heat sink.

1. Make sure that the heat-sink release lever is in the open position.
2. Remove the plastic protective cover from the bottom of the heat sink.
3. If the new heat sink did not come with thermal grease, apply thermal grease on the
microprocessor before you install the heat sink (see “Thermal grease” on page 195).
4. Align the heat sink above the microprocessor with the thermal grease side down.
