3. With your finger, slide the orange release tab in the direction indicated by the arrow on top of the fan to
unlock the fan handle. Grasp the fan handle and pull the fan

4. If you are instructed to return the hot-swap fan, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging
materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
Installing a hot-swap fan
Attention:
• Replace a hot-swap fan within 30 seconds of removal.
• To ensure proper cooling and airflow, do not operate the server for more than 2 minutes with the side
cover removed.
To install a hot-swap fan, complete the following steps.
1. Touch the static-protective package that contains the hot-swap fan to any unpainted metal surface on
the server; then, remove the fan from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.
2. Align the fan

over the fan slot and lower fan into the slot in the fan cage assembly.
