Installing the Internal MADI Bridge (for 64-channel RAVENNA)
If you wish to use 64 bi-directional streaming channels from a RAVENNA IO card, then the RAVENNA IO card
must be fitted to the left expansion slot and connected, internally, to MADI port 1. This option is known as the
internal MADI bridge. The diagram below shows the internal connections once the installation is complete.
Note that a Compact Engine fitted with 4 external MADI ports has no internal MADI port and, therefore, cannot
support this option.
If the internal MADI bridge is not installed, then the 952/38 IO card provides 8 bi-directional streaming channels
(to and from the backplane).
This procedure must
NOT
be performed while the frame is powered.
The Compact Engine carries highly sensitive electronic components, and should be handled with care.
ALWAYS
observe the following procedures:
·
Discharge yourself before touching an IO card.
·
Wear conductive safety-shoes and grounding wristbands to reduce the risk of electrostatic
discharging.
·
DO NOT bend the cards.
1.
Start by disconnecting the power and removing the cover plate for the left expansion slot as described
Spare cover plates should be stored safely so that they can be reused later.
