Fitting Expansion IO Cards
The following procedure can be used to fit a new IO card or exchange a card once the unit is operational. To
remove and replace the screws you will need an imbus tool.
IO cards must
NOT
be exchanged while the frame is powered.
The IO cards carry highly sensitive electronic components, and should be handled with care.
ALWAYS
observe the following procedures:
·
Discharge yourself before touching an IO card.
·
Wear conductive safety-shoes and grounding wristbands to reduce the risk of electrostatic
discharging.
·
DO NOT bend the cards.
1.
Disconnect the mains and DC power supply from the rear panel of the Compact Engine.
2.
Using an imbus tool, undo the 4 front panel screws. If the frame is fitted with an IO card, then take care
to undo the correct screws. DO NOT unscrew any connectors!
3.
Pull out the cover plate (or existing IO card) from its slot, taking care not to damage any connectors.
Spare cover plates should be stored safely so that they can be reused later.
4.
Unpack the new IO card, taking care to ensure safe ESD handling of the device.
5.
Insert the new card into the slot, taking care that the card slides into the guides on both sides.
6.
Replace the 4 screw to fix the card in place.
CAUTION
:
ALWAYS
secure the IO card using the screws provided. This protects the operator from
contact with live parts; protects the card from being pulled out unintentionally; and reduces the emission of
electro-magnetic radiation.
7.
Then switch on the unit and check the boot-up sequence on the front panel display.
The installation is now complete.
Before you can use the IO on a new card, you will need to add the card to the ON-AIR Designer configuration.

for details.
