11.3. Maintenance Instructions Pneumatic Components
The Autosampler III has several pneumatic parts that require periodic maintenance and need to be checked
regularly for optimal use. This part of the manual explains this in detail.
11.3.1. Cylinder
A pneumatic cylinder is, by default, lubricated for the complete duration of its lifetime. However, an exposed
piston rod must be cleaned regularly with a lint-free cleaning cloth. If the pneumatic cylinder is additionally
lubricated, this should continue to be done regularly and consistently.
11.3.2. Air service unit
The water separator must be empty. Any cleaning of the air
service unit should also be done regularly. The filter of the reducer
on the air service unit should be checked and replaced regularly.
The frequency of control depends on the air quality and must
be carried out at least once a month up to once every 6 months
at the least. In special air conditions, it may need checked daily.
The original color of the filter is white. Contamination of the
filter is recognizable by discoloration of the filter pattern; yellow
discoloration indicates absorption of oil. Check the filter pot daily
(or at least once per month) and drain the water that may have
collected in the filter pot. When replacing the filter, pay attention to
the correct filter passage of 5 μL.
11.3.3. Couplings and valves
The couplings between the various components and air hoses
should be regularly checked for damage and leakage. If a defect
has been detected, the relevant coupling must be repaired
or replaced.
11.3.4. Air tubing
The air tubing should be regularly checked for damage, kinks and
leakage. If a defect has been detected, the air hose in question must
be replaced. The air hoses are made of plastic. As the pneumatic
installation ages, the air hoses can harden. This depends heavily on
the operating conditions. A hardened air hose has a higher risk of
leakage. Therefore, these should be replaced regularly.
