9.4. Shaker
The shaker is a delicate part of the Autosampler III due to the accuracy required to shake properly. Cleaning
of the shaker can be done as described in the stainless steel section. However, take care to not apply too
much liquid, i.e., use a damp cloth and not a soaked cloth. Be careful about applying force. Some force may
be applied (similar to that used on the HMI screen).
9.5. Tubing
Tubing may be cleaned internally with microwash and
ethanol. When using ethanol to clean the tubing (internally)
the Autosampler III must be turned off. Flushing can be done
by removing the tubing from the pump and using a manual
syringe to flush the ethanol through the Autosampler III. Also,
when ethanol has been used to clean the tubing, it must be
followed with a manual cleaning using demineralized water to
remove the ethanol of the Autosampler III.
9.6. Needles
Clean needles are vital to the correct functioning of the Autosampler III. The goal of this procedure, and
specifically flushing the needle, is to prevent microbiological build up, crystals or precipitation of reagent
within the fluid lines. All these effects may interfere with test results as well as the continued performance of
the Autosampler III.
9.6.1. Regular cleaning of needles
The needles of the Autosampler III can be cleaned from both the inside and outside. To clean the needles
from the inside, start the "Flush" method from the HMI. For cleaning the outside of the needles, the
"13-WashPipettingChannels" method can be started from the dropdown menu. This already happens during
every wash cycle after sample has been pipetted, but there is a manual option in the HMI as well.
9.6.2. Deep cleaning needles
For deep cleaning of the pierce needles, the needles must be taken out of the system. In order to do so,
follow the steps listed below.
1.
Follow the replace needles procedure (Chapter 8) in order to remove the needles from the system.
2.
Place in container of ethanol.
