To improve network reliability, hybrid FRR for static IP routes and VPN routes is configured
on PE1 and PE3. If GE 1/0/0 on PE1 detects bit errors, the private network static route keeps
directing traffic along the active link, which adversely affects services.
To minimize the impact of bit errors on services, associate the private network static route
between PE1 and PE3 with bit errors, while configuring this route. If bit errors occur on the
active link, hybrid FRR protection switching is triggered so that traffic can switch to the
bidirectional static route for the standby link between PE1 and PE3.

Configuration Roadmap
The configuration roadmap is as follows:
1.
Configure a static route between PE1 and PE2 and another one between PE3 and PE4 on
the VPN backbone network to implement connectivity.
2.
Configure a bidirectional static LSP between PE1 and PE2 and another one between PE3
and PE4.
3.
Configure a VPN instance on PE1, PE2, PE3, and PE4.
4.
Enable BFD globally and interface bit error detection on PE1 and PE3.
5.
Configure a private network static route between PE1 and PE3 and associate the static route
and bit errors.
6.
On PE1, configure a backup static route destined for PE3 and with PE2 at the next hop; on
PE3, configure another backup static route destined for PE1 and with PE4 at the next hop.
7.
Configure hybrid FRR for static IP routes and VPN routes on PE1 and PE3.
