2.1.3.5 Cleaning (Drum)
This is the step where excess toner and residual charge are eliminated from
the drum.
Physical drum cleaning
If toner is allowed to remain on the drum, it will interfere with subsequent
steps in the process. Remaining toner is scraped off by the Cleaning Blade
in contact with the drum.
The toner scraped off the drum is carried off by the Auger inside the DRUM
CARTRIDGE, and is collected in the WASTE TONER BOX.

Electrical drum cleaning
A charge remains on the drum surface even after the excess toner is
scraped off by the Cleaning Blade. If the charge is allowed to remain on the
drum surface, it will interfere with subsequent steps in the process.
Residual charge is therefore eliminated from the drum surface by LED light
inside the ERASE LAMP ASSY.
