Control in
No Weld
(See p. 5-8)
The control moved
from Weld Mode to
No Weld Mode while
executing a weld
schedule.
Robot or ladder logic de-
activated the WELD/NO
WELD input.
Check robot or ladder to verify
that the input is being held
HIGH throughout the schedule.
Use the DEP
I/O Status
display
to observe the status of this
input.
Data entry device is pro-
grammed in No Weld mode.
Verify that the data entry device
is in Weld Mode.
Loose or incorrect wiring to
the input module.
Check for proper I/O designa-
tions. Check to make sure all
wiring connections are secure.
Faulty input or output module.
Replace I/O module.
Inverter
Serial Comm
Error
The processor
detected a loss of
communications with
the MFDC inverter
over the MedLAN
cable.
Faulty MedLAN cable and/or
connectors.
Check the MedLAN cable to
verify communications.
SCR Misfire
(See p. 5-3)
The processor
detected conduction
on one half-cycle
without conduction
on the next half-
cycle.
Faulty wiring. (For example, if
the gate and cathode wires
are swapped.)
Check all wiring connections.
Verify that they are secure and
correct.
Insufficient squeeze time in
the weld schedule. (Metal is
expelled at the electrode/
material interface.)
Program additional squeeze
time in the selected schedule.
Poor part fit-up or insufficient
pressure. (Metal is being
expelled at the faying
surface.)
Try upsloping or inserting a
preheat function (at a low %
current) to try to form part fit-
ups. Verify sufficient OFF time
before the weld function in the
weld schedule (typically 20 CY).
Also try increasing weld
pressure.
Isolation contactor is dropping
out early or coming in late.
Correct isolation contactor
program or relay logic circuit.
Faulty firing card.
Replace firing card.
