Check the control transformer for proper 

connections and voltage. Incorrect voltage from 

the control transformer can damage the I/O 

devices and/or present an electrical shock 

hazard to personnel. 

12. Provide the MedLAN connections if a network connection is 

desired. Refer to “Providing MedLAN Connections” on page 2-5. 

Follow the recommendation provided in “MedLAN Wiring 

Specifications” on page 2-6.

13. Inspect the setting of the circuit breaker’s magnetic trip. Verify that 

this setting is correct. Refer to “Circuit Breaker” on page 1-4. 

14. If using the optional communications daughter board, configure the 

FieldBus DIP switch. Refer to “Configuring the FieldBus Daughter 

Board” on page 1-10 for further details. 

15. If using the optional secondary current coil, inspect it and verify 

that its orientation is correct and the 2-pin Phoenix connector is 

secure. 

16. Inspect all connections and verify proper crimping and torque 

settings. Verify that there are NO line-to-line shorts. 

17. When making all the electrical connections to/from the control, 

verify that each connection is secure. Refer to the tables listed in 

“Required Torque for Electrical Connections” on page 2-24. 

18. Verify that all I/O are present and correctly assigned in the 

software. Refer to the schematics supplied with the control. 

19. Turn on the cooling water and ensure proper flow rate. The 

MedWeld 4000 control is now ready to power up.
