Stepper Data

The MedWeld 4000 provides
steppers
, to help compensate for changes
in the welding environment. These stepper settings are programmable,
to control how the weld processor will compensate for these variations.
What is a Stepper?
The MedWeld 4000 provides a
linear
stepper. It adds heat according to
a stepper profile that you can program.
You program steppers using the WTC programming device. Tell the
weld processor which linear stepper you want to control the weld
schedule, by using the stepper assignment function #82. It assigns a
stepper number to each linear stepper in the weld schedule.
You can program up to 99 linear steppers. The following sections
describe linear steppers, along with directions on how to program them.
You can assign a stepper to a group. This capability allows for
incrementing the stepper when the control executes any weld schedule
assigned to that group. You can also advance or reset a group of
steppers.
Linear Steppers
The conventional linear stepper tracks the number of welds completed.
It increases the heat provided to the weld at several programmed set
points. This serves to compensate for drifts in the welding process.
The stepper profile consists of a number of linear steps, and a parameter
to allow stepper grouping. Each linear step applies additional weld
current over a number of welds.
