MedWeld 4000 Operator’s Guide 

M-032116  Programs #T03300, #T02300 and #T02400

RETRACT PILOT: 

(FAULT) (ALERT)

The function VERIFY CYLINDER #n IS OUT OF RETRACT tells 
the control to confirm that the selected cylinder is out of retract. If 
the cylinder is NOT out of retract, the control will abort the 
schedule and generate this fault. 

WELDER CURRENT SHUNTING: 
(

T03300 only

) (FAULT) 

(ALERT)

This fault is generated when the control detects that a shorted SCR 
condition occurred for 3 or more consecutive cycles, but less than 
the programmed value, in the Shorted SCR Cycle Limit setup 
parameter. 

ISO CONTACTOR NOT ENABLED: 

(FAULT)

This fault is generated if the isolation contactor is de-activated 
(opens) while the control is sequencing. 

CONTROL IN NO WELD: 

(FAULT) (ALERT)

This fault occurs if the control moves from Weld Mode into No 
Weld Mode while sequencing. This fault is also generated if the 
control receives a weld initiate while in No Weld Mode. 

INVERTER SERIAL COMM ERROR: 

(T02300 only)

(FAULT) (ALERT) 

This condition is generated when the weld processor detects a loss 
of communications with the inverter over the MedLAN cable. 

INITIATION ON POWER-UP 

(FAULT) 

This fault is set if initiates are present on power-up.

CONTACTOR SHORT: 

(T02300 only)

(FAULT) (ALERT) 

This fault occurs when a contactor (other than the one that is 
currently firing) shows no voltage across its SCR/contactor for 
more than 2 cycles during the weld and its Short Detection Enable/ 
Disable setup parameter is set to ENABLE (see setups below). 

NOTE:

False 

CONTACTOR SHORT

 faults will occur if a contactor's short 

detection is set to ENABLED and it has no welding transformer 
connected, or the currently selected contactor fires below a minimum on-
time threshold (approximately 10 percent of the maximum available on-
time at 1,200 Hz operating mid-frequency).
