Optical carrier 3. A SONET channel equal to three DS3s (155.52 Mbps).

OC-12 —

Optical carrier 12. A SONET channel of 622.08 Mbps.

OC-48 —

Optical Carrier 48. SONET channel of 2.488 Gbps.

OC-192 —

Optical Carrier 192. SONET channel of 9.953 Gbps.

OTDR —

Optical Time Domain Reflectometer.

Packet —

Bundle of data, configured for transmission. Consists of data to be trans-

mitted and control information.

PIM —

The physical interface module inserted into one of up to two ports provided on

the MSAM chassis. Provides the interfaces used to connect to the circuit you are
testing.

PON —

Passive Optical Network.
