Replacing the T-BERD / MTS 5800 and SC 4800 batteries

This section discusses replacing the battery in a T-BERD / MTS 5800 and SC 4800. For 
instructions on replacing the MSAM, or CSAM batteries, refer to the supporting

Base Unit User Manual

 6000A Base Unit User Manual

The battery compartment is located on the back of the unit.

Before replacing the battery, verify that it is a Viavi-supplied replacement battery pack.

To replace the battery pack

1

Turn the power off.

2

Turn the instrument over, resting on the face.

3

Using a Phillips screw driver, remove the four screws from the battery compart-
ment door.

4

Remove the battery compartment door.

5

Pull the battery out of the battery compartment and disengage the battery cable's 
locking connector from the mating connector on the right side.

6

Engage the locking connector of the new batter with the mating connector on the 
right side and then place the new battery into the battery compartment.

7

Replace the battery compartment door.

8

Tighten the four screws until hand tight. 

Replacing the battery pack is complete.

Calibrating the T-BERD / MTS 5800 and SC 4800 touchscreen

This section discusses calibrating the touchscreen on a T-BERD / MTS 5800 and SC 
4800. For instructions on calibrating the MSAM or CSAM touchscreen, refer to the 
supporting

If, after a period of time, you observe issues with your touchscreen (for example, the 
arrow does not appear in the correct location after you touch the screen, or the top or 
bottom of the screen become unresponsive), the touchscreen may require recalibra-
tion.

CAUTION: INSTRUMENT DAMAGE

Failure to turn the power off before removing the batteries from the instru-
ment could damage internal components and/or corrupt the software. Always 
power down the unit before removing the battery pack.
