6 If you enabled QSFP Expert mode in Step 4 and the QSFP is capable of
bypassing transmit or receive clock data recovery (CDR) , if you want to bypass
CDR, do the following:
–
To bypass transmit CDR, select Tx CDR bypass enable .
– To bypass receive CDR, select Rx CDR bypass enable .
NOTE: If the QSFP is not capable of bypassing CDR, these settings will be
disabled.
7 If you enabled CFP Expert mode in Step 4, adjust the Transmit (Tx) settings as
applicable:
a Specify the Pre-Emphasis setting.
The default pre-emphasis settings are set to values which are recommended
to work with all optics on the Recommended Optics List.
b Specify the Clock Divider setting.
The default reference clock will be set to the default mode that the CFP is
expecting.
c If you are testing using serial CFP optical modules, specify the Skew Offset .
The Synchronous Transport Lane (STL) specification requires 32-byte lane
spacing but some serial CFP hardware exists that does not conform to this
specification. The CSAM is being shipped with a
CFP Skew value at -32 . If,
at a later time, hardware changes require it, a skew value of 32 is also avail-
able.
The Skew settings appear only for SONET applications when using single-
lambda CFPs.
d Specify whether to Invert Polarity.
Setting Description
Default Original manufacturer settings.
Low Some pre-emphasis is applied.
Nominal A moderate level of pre-emphasis is applied. This is the ideal set-
ting for most CFPs.
High A high level of pre-emphasis is applied.
Setting Description
Default Original manufacturer settings.
1/16 The reference clock will be set to 1/16 of the CAU line rate.
1/64 The reference clock will be set to 1/64 of the CAU line rate.
