To configure IIS with Tomcat
Follow the procedure below if you are using IIS as your web server. If you are
using Apache, refer to “Installing the required web server software” on page
148.
1 Ensure the Apache Tomcat and IIS Admin services are stopped.
2 Download isapi_redirect.dll from http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-
tomcat-connectors/jk/release/v1.2.4/bin/win32/.
3 Copy the downloaded file into the folder in which you installed Apache
Tomcat (for example, <TOMCAT_HOME>\conf subfolder).
4 Open Notepad and create a new file called workers.properties and save it
to the <TOMCAT_HOME>\conf directory (where TOMCAT_HOME is the
folder in which you installed Apache Tomcat).
5 In Notepad create another file called uriworkermap.properties and save it in
the <TOMCAT_HOME>\conf directory (where <TOMCAT_HOME> is the
folder in which you installed Apache Tomcat).
6 In the registry, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apache
Software Foundation\Jakarta Isapi Redirector\1.0.
7 In the 1.0 directory, add a string value with the name extension_uri and a
value of /jakarta/isapi_redirect.dll.
8 In the 1.0 directory, add a string value with the name log_file, and a value
pointing to where you want your log file to be (for example,
<TOMCAT_HOME>\logs\isapi.log).
9 In the 1.0 directory, add a string value with the name log_level and a value
for your log level (this can be debug, info, error, or emerg).
10 In the 1.0 directory, add a string value with the name worker_file, and a
value that is the full path to your workers.properties file (that is,
<TOMCAT_HOME>\conf\workers.properties).
11 In the 1.0 directory, add a string value with the name worker_mount_file,
and a value that is the full path to your uriworkermap.properties file (that is,
<TOMCAT_HOME>\conf\uriworkermap.properties).
12 Use the IIS management console to add a new virtual directory to your IIS
web site. The name of the virtual directory must be jakarta. Its physical path
should be the directory where you placed isapi_redirect.dll (in this example,
it is <TOMCAT_HOME>\conf). When creating this new virtual directory,
assign it execute access.
