Installing the Symposium Web Center Portal software

Installing the Portal Server component

Introduction

Follow the procedures in this section to install the Portal Server component.
When you install the Portal Server, you install the Symposium Web Center
Portal database.

Before you install the Portal Server component, ensure that you complete the
steps listed in the Portal Server checklist (see “Portal Server checklist” on page
530).

To install J2SE 1.4.1 JRE

J2SE 1.4.1 JRE for Windows (all languages, including English, supplied on the
CD-ROM) is required to run Java applications and applets on Windows. You
must install J2SE 1.4.1 JRE on the Portal Server and Agent PCs.

Log on to Windows using the Local Administrator user ID.

Insert the Nortel Networks Symposium Web Center Portal Server and
Client Software CD-ROM into the CD drive.
