Adding string filters
Introduction
The following section provides information about adding or removing portions
of the text of e-mails through character string recognition. This feature allows
you to filter inappropriate language.
To add Symposium Web Center Portal string filters
The string filter settings are held in the mailfilter.xml file. If this file is not
present, or does not contain a particular setting, then the default values for these
settings are used. These values are used to replace specific character sequences
found in e-mails with an alternative. By default, no filters are configured.
Note: Filter strings allow regular expressions. For more information about
regular expressions, refer to the Java Sun web site.
1 Navigate to the mailfilter.xml file (usually found in C:\Program Files\Nortel
Networks\Symposium Web Center Portal\Portal Server\Email
Manager\Service).
2 Insert text similar to the following listing:
<swcp:filter.string>
<swcp:filter.string.find>Old string</
swcp:filter.string.find>
<swcp:filter.string.replace>New string</
swcp:filter.string.replace>
</swcp:filter.string>
3 Repeat for each filter you require.
Note: The addition of too many filters may impact the performance of the
application.
