Step 4: Assign Answering Schedules Tables
As stated in Step 3 of this section, you can assign an Answering Schedule Table to a port or a Trunk
Mailbox (if your phone system allows the use of Trunk Mailboxes) or both.
The Voice Mail can accommodate up to 50 ASTs. Here are some guidelines in figuring out how
many ASTs you will need:
If you want the Automated Attendant to answer all incoming lines in the same way, you need
only one AST, and you simply assign it to each port. (Since AST 1 is already assigned to each
port by default, you don’t have to make any AST assignments to this port.)
But if you want the Automated Attendant to answer some trunks differently than others, you
assign the desired AST (1— 50) to the Trunk Mailbox assigned to the trunk, but only if the
Voice Mail provides Trunk Mailboxes for your phone system. To find out if Trunk Mailboxes
are allowed, see the Phone System Integration Guide.
To assign an AST to a port:
1.
Click Customize on the menu bar.
2.
Select Port Options on the Customize menu.
3.
Enter the number for the AST (1— 50) in the Answering Schedule Table box.
To assign an AST to a Trunk Mailbox:
1.
Click Customize on the menu bar.
2.
Select Mailbox Options on the Customize menu.
3.
Select Edit on the Mailbox Options menu.
4.
On the Mailbox Range dialog box:

OK button.
5.
Enter the number for the AST (1— 50) in the Answering Schedule Table box.
