Chapter 1: Installation

Step 5: Start up the NT Voice Mail System

To start up the NT Voice Mail:

1.

Plug the surge protector into the outlet dedicated to the Voice Mail.

2.

Plug the power cord into the AC Power Connector at the back of the cabinet and into the surge
protector.

3.

Turn on the Voice Mail’s power switch.

4.

When the computer’s desktop appears on the monitor, double-click the My Computer icon on
the desktop.

5.

Double-click the Control Panel icon on the My Computer window.

6.

Double-click the Services icon on the Control Panel window.

7.

On the Services window:
Select VMService from the scroll list, and click the Start button.
After the Services Control message is displayed, the status of VMService will read, Started.

8.

Click the Close button on the dialog box to remove it from the screen.

9.

Click the X in the upper right corner of the Control Panel window and then the My Com-
puter window.

10. Click the NT Configuration icon on the desktop to display a window similar to shown below.

After you install a phone system, this screen changes and shows a menu bar that you will This
is the system’s Main Menu Screen that you will use to configure the NT Voice Mail
