5 - Removal and Re-installation

Re-install

To re-install the Ethernet jack, follow these steps:

1)

Hold the new Ethernet jack between your thumb and forefinger with the large clip facing the right
side of the device, as shown in

Figure 5-173

2)

Reach into the left side access door and insert the Ethernet jack into its mounting hole.

3)

Hook the clip nearest the left access door onto the outside of the case first, then press toward the right
side of the device with your thumb until the Ethernet jack snaps completely into place.

4)

Route the cable through the device to the right side access door. If necessary, pull the embedded PC
further out to make more room.

5)

Connect the Ethernet plug to the embedded PC as shown in

Figure 5-166

6)

Re-connect any disconnected cables from the embedded PC and re-install it completely (refer to
section

5.28 How to Remove / Re-install the Embedded PC

for details).

7)

Perform any other service that requires the device to be open and powered off.

8)

Re-install the right side access door.

9)

Re-install the power supply and power on the device by following the steps in section

5.33 How to

Remove / Re-install the Power Supply

. At the end, the device should be closed, re-connected,

powered on, and run through a small test to make sure the power supply is functioning correctly.

10)

Test the device’s Ethernet connection by following these steps:
a)

If the device is not already displaying the

Status

page, press the

Status

button.

b)

Press the

Menu

button to display the

Main Menu

page.

c)

Press the

Settings

to open the

Settings Menu

page.

d)

Press the

Authorize/Deauthorize

button to open the

Device Authorize/Deauthorize

page.

e)

Test the internet connection to MagTek’s Certificate Authority by pressing the

Test

Authorize/Deauthorize Connection

button. If the network connection is working properly,

the device displays a message on the

Device Authorize/Deauthorize

page stating “The

authorize/deauthorize connection is successfully tested.”

11)

If MagTek has not requested parts for analysis, dispose of the Ethernet jack, Ethernet plug, and cable.
