Replacing a Suspect Hard Drive in a Model 4xx

1. Remove power from the IBM 2212 by unplugging the power cord.

2. Remove the IBM 2212 cover, using the instructions in “Removing the Cover” on

page 2-4.

3. Reposition the chassis so that the back of the chassis rests on the countertop.

The front of the chassis should be facing the ceiling. With one hand supporting
the hard drive, remove from the bottom of the chassis the four screws attaching
the hard drive to the chassis.

4. Disconnect the IDE cable and the power cable from the hard drive. Lift out the

hard drive. Return the hard drive as indicated in the warranty and maintenance
agreement for your country.

5. If the hard drive IDE (flat ribbon) cable is not suspect, go to step 7 on

page 2-40.
