17. Connect an ASCII terminal or a PC with ASCII terminal emulation software

configured to use 19.2 Kbps line speed, and access the

prompt:

Type vpd and press Enter. You will be prompted to identify the new model
|
number of your IBM 2212. See “Entering Vital Product Data” on page E-14

for more information on entering vital product data (VPD) information.

Migrate the saved configuration files to the IBM 2212 Model x5x.

for more information on configuration file transfer.

Install the migrated configuration file into the active bank.

Type the set command to set the new configuration to be the active
|
configuration. After typing set and pressing Enter, you will be prompted for
|
the rest of the information. Until you reboot, this bank will be in the pending
|
state.

Use the describe command to list the contents of the banks on the hard
|
file or compact flash. Choose a bank to make active.
|

Use the writeos command to copy the abbreviated software (used as the
|
recovery image) from the pending bank on the hard file/compact flash to
|
the new standard system card flash. See “Updating the Operational Code”
|
on page E-23.

Use the writeboot command to copy the bootstrap code from the pending
|
bank on the hard file/compact flash to the new standard system card flash.

Use the interface command to reconfigure the interface to dump over if

you want to use the network dump facility.

Use the bootmode command and choose normal boot from disk.

Use the dump command to reconfigure the dump information. After typing

dump and pressing Enter, you will be prompted for the rest of the

information.

Use the baudrate command to reset the baudrate for the IBM 2212 service
|
port if you wish to use a speed other than 19.2 Kbps. After typing baudrate
|
and pressing Enter, you will be prompted for the rest of the information.

Unplug and plug the power cord on the IBM 2212.

19. Notify the network administrator that you are finished.
