5. Type E and press Enter to exit the diagnostic menus and return to the
command line interface prompt (*).
Testing the Adapters
These tests for the adapters help to determine whether or not the adapter is
functioning correctly. In addition, some adapters may have additional tests such as
wrap plug and cable tests.
Complete the following steps to test a faulty or newly installed adapter:

Unplug and then plug the IBM 2212 power cord.

Run diagnostics on the adapter using the instructions in “Starting Diagnostics
on the Adapter”.
Refer to “Overview of Diagnostic Functions and Status Information” on page 6-1 for
additional information on the use of IBM 2212 diagnostics.
Starting Diagnostics on the Adapter
The following example gives a sample sequence with sample screens for running
the diagnostics. The selections that you see during your test may be different.
Before running the test, be sure you disable the adapter. See “Suspend Traffic on
an Adapter Port” on page E-9 for instructions.
1. Start diagnostics. See “Starting Diagnostics” on page 6-2.
2. The Diagnostic Menu (see Figure 6-1 on page 6-2) appears. To make a
selection, type in the number of your choice and press Enter.
3. Type 1 and press Enter to access the Device List Page.

| 5. Select a test for the device. Depending on the software code version, one of
| the following two menus appears:
