Section 5 Maintenance and Alignment

5.18 Combiner Removal (Single Phase Supply)

WARNING:

DISCONNECT AND LOCKOUT PRIMARY POWER AT THE AC SOURCE PRIOR TO
PERFORMING ANY CONNECTIONS, REPAIRS, OR MAINTENANCE INSIDE THE
TRASNMITTER.

The following procedure is for the removal of the hybrid in the Z16HD+ transmitter
equipped with a single phase power supply. If you have a 3-Phase supply refer to "5.17
Combiner Removal (3-Phase Supply)" on page 5-32.

STEP 1

Turn the transmitter off from the front panel and turn the low voltage

circuit breaker off, and disconnect the AC power to the transmitter at the
wall breaker or fused disconnect.

STEP 2

Remove the lower front power supply access panel from the Left-hand

cabinet.

STEP 3

Remove the fan assembly by removing six screws and two nuts located

around the outside edge of the fan assembly. Slowly slide the assembly
to the side being careful of the interconnect wiring. Disconnect the
connector then completely remove the assembly from the transmitter.

STEP 4

Loosen the power supply securing hardware at the front corners of the

supply tray.

STEP 5

Disconnect the interconnect cable which connects to J6 on PS1 at the

front right side of the transformer. Also disconnect wire #210 from the
small terminal strip, 1A17A1TB1, on the left side of the PS1
transformer. See Figure 2-5, Fi gure 2-6 a nd Figure 2-7 in Section 2, for
cable and connector locations.

STEP 6

Disconnect cable W11 from J4 on PS1. Cable W11 is a blue ribbon

cable.

STEP 7

Locate the large gray Wago block A17TB1 on the lower front left of the

power supply chassis. A17TB1 numbering is 1 through 6 read from left
to right. Make a note of the cable numbers and which terminal they go to
before removing. Be sure to remove the input cables, not the side that
goes to the transformers. The cable numbers should be #1, #2, #40 and
#41.

STEP 8

Locate A1J2/A1P2 connector near the front left side of the power supply

tray and disconnect.
