Overview of International
Roaming (WORLD WING)
International roaming (WORLD WING) is a ser-
vice provided by DoCoMo to FOMA users
whereby the networks of overseas providers are
used to allow communications with calls and
i-mode overseas.

This FOMA terminal allows the overseas use of
phone numbers and e-mail addresses that are
used in Japan. The FOMA terminal also allows
voice calls, videophone calls, i-mode and SMS.
Moreover, such convenient network services as
voice mail and call forwarding are available.

It is not necessary to apply for “WORLD WING”
in order to use the international roaming service.
However, if you have subscribed to the FOMA
services prior to August 31, 2005 and not
applied for “WORLD WING”, you need to apply
for this service on a one off basis for the first use.

In order to use the international roaming service,
it is necessary to insert the FOMA card (green)
into this FOMA terminal.

This FOMA terminal can be used only in the
overseas DoCoMo roaming area

DoCoMo roaming area is a third generation
mobile communication network that is compliant
with the global standard criteria 3GPP

The following numbers should be used as the
country code that is input when making
international calls (p.53) or Int’l dial settings
(p.54) (as of April, 2006).

Available Services
The communication services and functions
enabled in this FOMA terminal are different
depending on whether used in Japan or used
overseas. Moreover, such services and functions
also differ by the overseas provider you use.

Auto update is automatically suspended when
connected to an overseas provider. In order to
resume auto update of the i-channel overseas, it is
necessary to reset the i-Channel setting. However,
packet communication is charged besides monthly
charge.

During international roaming, reception of MessageF,
Chaku-moji transmission, Push-to-Talk calls, “Update”
and “Set auto-update” of the scan function and software
update cannot be used. However, you can delete possi-
ble data that may cause failure or cancel application.

Depending on the network condition of the country
you stay, the call and standby time may be about half
the normal.
