Wireless Network Operation
A networked Vista monitor transmits and receives data with the help of a wireless
LAN PC card installed in the Memory Card slot on the monitor’s side panel. The
wireless card communicates with access points which are strategically placed within a
monitoring unit in order to cover the desired transmission area.
When operating in network mode, the monitor continuously sends the following
information to other devices within the network:
z Parameter values (including values reported as *** ).
z Waveforms and their scales.
z Current bedside alarm limits and settings.
z Alarm and status messages.
If the network includes a central station, the monitor is identified on the central
display by a transmission icon.
NOTE:
z
Patient name and ID continuously identify the patient on central displays,
recordings, and data bases.
z
If a wireless monitor is transmitting data to a central station but has not been
assigned a viewport at that station, the message
Not monitored by central
appears in the monitor’s message area.
z
When the battery charge of an undocked wireless Infinity monitor becomes low,
the central station, to which the monitor is assigned, issues an adivsory alarm.
z
If you change central stations, that is, move the monitor to a room that is
monitored by a different central station, the original central station blanks the
monitor’s data and displays the message
Bed Disconnected .
z
