PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
Oil Pressure Check
●
Check the engine oil pressure periodically. This will give a good
indication of the condition of the moving parts.
●
Low or high oil pressure can indicate any of the following
conditions
Low Oil Pressure
○
Clogged oil filter.
○
Oil leakage from the oil passage.
○
Damaged O-ring.
○
Defective oil pump.
○
Combination of the above items.
High Oil Pressure
○
Engine oil viscosity is too high.
○
Clogged oil Passage.
○
Combination of the above items.
Oil Pressure Test Procedure
●
Remove the front fender. (See Body chapter)
●
Remove the fuel tank. (See Body chapter)
●
Connect the tachometer onto the spark plug high voltage cable.
●
Remove the cooling duct.
●
Remove the oil pressure switch.
●
Install the oil pressure gauge into the cylinder head gallery.
●
Start the engine.
●
After warming up the engine, maintain the engine at idle speed
1300 rpm and read the oil pressure gauge.
