At idle speed, you ca n co ntrol boat direct ion and position by engine gear select ion alone. With
both outboard engines faci ng straight ahead:
•
Y ou ca n rotate the boat to p ort by shifting the starboard engine into F ORWARD and the
port engine into RE V E RS E .
•
Y ou ca n rotate the boat to starb oard by shifting the port engine into F ORWARD and the
starboard engine into RE V E RS E .
Above idle speed in F ORWARD , you ca n co ntrol boat direct ion with the steering wheel:
•
Turn the steering wheel in a co unter-cl ockw ise direct ion to turn to p ort .
•
Turn the steering wheel in a cl ockw ise direct ion to turn to starb oard
Y ou c an use the engine throttles to greatly incr ease boat response while performing ce rtain slow
speed turning maneuvers. To turn q uickl
y to port or starboard at slow speed, turn the steering
wheel in the direct ion you want to go. After you have turned the steering wheel, incr ease the
engine speed and the boat will turn q uickl y. It is important to turn the steering wheel b efore you
incr ease engine speed, beca use the boat will acce lerate in the direct ion it is steered.
B acki ng down, you ca n co ntrol boat direct ion with the steering wheel:
•
Turn the steering wheel in a co unter-cl ockw ise direct ion to back down to p ort .
•
Turn the steering wheel in a cl ockw ise direct ion to back down to starb oard .
