When maneuvering on streets or highways, always
remember that the boat and trailer have at least doubled
the effect ive length and weight of your tow vehicl e. F ollow
these guidelines when towing:

•

Always use co mmon sense when trailering a boat

•

Operate your tow vehicl e well within the existing

traffic regulations

•

P ay cl ose attention to road and weather co nditions

•

Always avoid traffic situations where rapid

acce

leration or dece leration is req uired

•

D ouble the standard following distance for your
vehicl e speed

•

Always be aware of traffic conditions around you

•

Identify any possible “ blind spots” behind or on
either side of your trailer

•

P lan ahead and ch eck

your mirrors ca refully when

ch anging lanes, stopping, or turning

•

Always signal your intentions well in advance of a
lane ch ange or a turn

•

M ake very wide turns. Y our trailer will not follow
the path of your tow vehicl e tires
