L oad Distrib ution
P lace ment and co nce ntration of non-permanent loads
in a boat ca n affect boat performance and cr ew safety.

Boat L oad Cap acities in Section 1 of this
manual for additional information.
Imp rop er op eration, ex cessive loading, imp rop er
load distrib ution, and mismatching loads to
ex isting conditions can contrib ute to b oat
swamp ing or cap sizing. T hese situations can
result in serious injury or death.
F ollow these guidelines for non-permanent loads:
•
Never exce ed the ca paci ty limits listed in this
manual.
•
Consider reduci ng the ca paci ty limits for speci al
operating co nditions or severe weather.
•
Never co nce ntrate a heavy load in one small area.
•
E q uipment and people are co nsidered part of
your non-permanent load.
•
D istribute any non-permanent load or ca rgo
evenly front to back
and port to starboard.
•
The ce nter of the non-permanent load distribution
should be in the middle of the boat.
•
D o not allow your non-permanent loads or ca rgo
to shift. Always secu re non-permanent loads and
ca rgo with netting, tie-down straps, lines, and
appropriate deck
hardware.
•
Y ou must be prepared to adjust the load distribution
as operating co nditions ch ange.
