Backing
B acki ng a trailer req uires experience and ski ll. Always
operate a towing vehicl e within the limits of your
experience . If you do not have this experience , ask
someone to instruct you or gain experience through
experimentation under co ntrolled co nditions.
F ollow these guidelines when backi ng your trailer:
•
H ave a spotter outside the vehicl e to assist with
instruct ions
•
Check your mirrors co nstantly
•
Always kn ow where the boat is in relation to any
fi ed ob ects
•
Never acce lerate in reverse. B ack up slowly!
•
When the trailer is straight behind the tow vehicl e,
the rear of the trailer will move opposite the
direct ion that you turn the steering wheel
•
If you turn the steering wheel cl ockw ise, the trailer
will move to the left
•
If you move the steering wheel co unter-cl ock wise,
the trailer will move to the right
•
H alf way through the turn, adjust the steering
wheel to follow the trailer through its turn
•
D o not allow the trailer to turn so sharply that the
trailer or boat hits the tow vehicl e
